Non-combat boxing classes for female-identifying, non-binary and LGBTQIA+ young people.

ABOUT US

EST. 2017

Since 2017 we have been proudly offering free boxing and wellbeing workshops in the Subiaco area. Transitions in life can be hard, but with the right community and a constant safe space to explore movement and wellbeing we can build the resilience and self efficacy to deal with life’s challenges - and have fun while we do it!

Our classes are community driven. We aren’t a gym, we aren’t elite athletes. We want to make movement accessible and fun for people who may not feel comfortable in a typical gym environment.

...AND COUNTING

Female, 22

"The more that I have attended classes regularly, pushed my capabilities further and committed to the program, the more I have had a better relationship with my body. I feel strong and capable."

Female/NB, 22

"Not only do I feel mentally and physically stronger, but I now see
exercise as a kindness and investment in myself rather than a punishment."

Female, 22

"I feel strong and confident, and most importantly I value my body as what it is, a vessel that allows me to do all the things I
want and need to do."

YOUR QUESTIONS
ANSWERED
  • What should I expect?
Our classes are split equally between non-combat boxing and peer-lead discussions. These can be a mix of casual chats, guest mentors, practical how-tos and mental health support.
  • Are these classes meant for me?
TBP free youth classes welcome female aligned people and non-binary persons at our Monday classes and any member of the LGBTQIA+ community at our Thursday classes. Our paid Saturday adults classes are for women and members of the LGBTIAQ+ community. This project was originally created to address challenges being faced by women. We seek to provide a safe space that offers support and encouragement and have now proudly opened that up to more community members.
  • I’m under 16, can I sign up?
Definitely! We'll just need a parent or guardian to complete the sign up form, and waiver.
  • What if I’ve never boxed before?
Almost all of our participants come with zero boxing experience. We take time to help you learn the basics.
  • Who teaches the classes?
We have a community of facilitators and mentors, ranging from past participants to community volunteers. Our facilitators are fully trained in youth facilitation, cultural sensitivity, hosting psychologically safe spaces and the basics in non-combat boxing of course!

There are no wrong questions. We’re here to listen and help!
